Congratulations to RSN Degree Graduate 2018 Alex Standring who won two Awards at Hand & Lock Prize for Embroidery in London: the ‘Student Category, Textile Arts’ and ‘The Worshipful Company of Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers for Excellence in Goldwork Prize’. Alex’s work is entitled ‘Faith and Fears’ which is inspired by the Byzantine mosaics in Sicily and her phobia of spiders as it explores the idea of the conflict and contrast between faith and fear.
Since Graduating from the RSN Degree, Alex has been extremely busy! She has been doing freelance work for Cathryn Avison, embroidering costumes for an upcoming Disney film. Alex is currently freelancing for Ralph & Russo, working in the couture embroidery department and preparing pieces for their next show.
The RSN looks forward to seeing Alex’s beautiful work out in industry over the coming years and we are very excited about her future!
